RIGHTS OF BOARD MEMBERS

To:

  • Be fully informed about the responsibilities, time commitment and organization before I accept the position of board member.

  • Have opportunities for orientation and continuing board training to assist me to function effectively.

  • Be thoroughly updated through accurate financial reports, management reports or regular and thorough briefings by staff about the operation of the organization.

  • Carry out volunteer activities that are well planned and coordinated within the organization or board.

  • Be assigned jobs that are worthwhile and challenging, with freedom to use existing skills or develop new ones.

  • Decline assignments that do not match my skills and interests.

  • Have successful job experiences that provide opportunities for personal growth.

  • Be trusted with confidential information that will assist me to carry out assignments and responsibilities.

  • Measure the effectiveness of my work and the results obtained.

  • Be recognized at appropriate times for my work and involvement as a board member.
