RIGHTS OF BOARD MEMBERS
To:
- Be fully informed about the responsibilities, time commitment and organization before I accept the position of board member.
- Have opportunities for orientation and continuing board training to assist me to function effectively.
- Be thoroughly updated through accurate financial reports, management reports or regular and thorough briefings by staff about the operation of the organization.
- Carry out volunteer activities that are well planned and coordinated within the organization or board.
- Be assigned jobs that are worthwhile and challenging, with freedom to use existing skills or develop new ones.
- Decline assignments that do not match my skills and interests.
- Have successful job experiences that provide opportunities for personal growth.
- Be trusted with confidential information that will assist me to carry out assignments and responsibilities.
- Measure the effectiveness of my work and the results obtained.
- Be recognized at appropriate times for my work and involvement as a board member.
